Maternity


 This is a painting by Lorser Feitelson called "Maternity" painted between 1931 and 1932.  Feitelson (1898-1978) was known as one of the founders of Southern California hard-edged painting. He and his peers had a profound affect in the development of American abstract painting.  This painting was seen in an exhibition at the Laguna Beach Art Museum.  It's part of the permanent collection at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

"Eve"

 


A portrait of artist Eve Fowler painted by a friend Celeste Dupuy-Spencer. Spencer was born in New York and studied art in various locations before moving to Los Angeles.  

She is mostly known for thought provoking and controversial images.  She has paintings in numerous museums and colletions.

Dupuy-Spencer was born in 1979 and passed away just recently on April 9, 2026.

This painting was seen at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.

The Avenue at Middelharnis

 

This painting dates back to 1669 and was painted by Meindert Hobbema (1638-1709) a little know Dutch painter. He painted mostly landscapes and was never well known during his lifetime.  His paintings became steadily more popular in the 18th century.  This painting is part of the collection at the National Gallery in London.
